Airbus Defence & Space operates a Digital Twin for the A400M Maintenance mixing the fleet up-to-date Digital Mock-Ups with all the relevant Technical & Maintenance Data.
Agustin Perez Sanz, Head of A400M Services Programme Configuration Management TASA6 explains how 3D Juump digital twin solution improved the maintenance of the A400M aircraft.
Can you tell us what the Services configuration management program Tasa6 is ?
The project we are working on is a digital twin of the A400M aircraft.
To which we have added the model and maintenance data, and it is used to anticipate product maintenance. Our clients are both internal and external. The various nations operating the A400M use it. And it is also the case on our internal sites.
What does the digital twin bring to your program ?
It is a single point where we can have all the data in real time. We have integrated all this data* which was previously contained in thousands of PDF pages, that had to be searched for.
Then, it moved to a web system, but you still had to search for it.
And today, we look at the aircraft on the model, we look at the equipment or even the screws, on which we want to perform a repair or maintenance. By clicking on the digital model, we can access all the referenced data. And we have direct access to the tool where the data is stored.

How much time did it take to index the data ?
When we started integrating the model with the data, it was five years ago. It was a project that lasted almost two years, with various clients, to prototype a model in which we were able to link all the data.
And today, we have moved to the next level: We have integrated the model with customer data, once the aircraft is maintained and operational.
Process embedding : What level of integration have you achieved today ?
It is successful and industrialized.
Today, we deliver a configured model to all our clients, every month, and it works perfectly.

According to you, what’s the added value of the 3D Juump Infinite suite ?
Access to the various data is very easy.
The speed: compared to a design software, it takes no time to get the information.
It is used in collaborative work. If we want to prepare a presentation and if we want to send it to someone else to consult what we have previously observed, it is very practical.
